Levensboom Fonds

Het Levensboom Fonds is in het voorjaar van 2005 opgericht door Complementair Zorgspecialist en Docent Madeleine Kerkhof-Wellhüner als vervolg op individuele steun aan hulpvragen van mensen met een levensbedreigende aandoening en in de laatste levensfase.

Het Levensboom Fonds is een stichting met ANBI status (Nr. 814872396).

De Levensboom (Tree of Life) Foundation was founded in the spring of 2005 by Complementary Care Specialist Madeleine Kerkhof-Wellhüner as a follow-up to individual support for help requests from people with a life-threatening condition and in the final stage of life.

De Levensboom Foundation is a (Dutch) registred charity (ANBI No. 814872396).

Het Levensboom Fonds zet zich sinds 2005 in voor zorgvragers in de palliatieve fase en is een initiatief van Madeleine Kerkhof-Wellhüner. In de beginjaren lag de nadruk op rechtstreekse hulp aan individuele zorgvragers ter ondersteuning van behandelingen zoals massage, aromazorg en het voorzien in voedingsmaatregelen. Verder betaalde het fonds extraatjes zoals een dagje weg, een lekkere vakantie, of andere activiteit waardoor mensen even kunnen vergeten dat ze ziek zijn. Het fonds is klein, maar dat neemt niet weg dat ze belangrijke bijdragen levert, vooral door aandacht te hebben voor het gezonde, het waardevolle en dierbare.

Het Levensboom Fonds is de afgelopen jaren, eigenlijk sinds Madeleine’s vorige echtgenoot plotseling overleed, wat minder actief geweest, maar nu – we schrijven 2021 – gaat het fonds naar verwachting meer inkomsten genereren uit activiteiten van en met Heerlijkheid De Levensboom, de aromatische plantentuin die Madeleine en Kees Kerkhof (haar huidige echtgenoot) met zoveel liefde en passie in stand houden. De Levensboom Foundation has been less active in recent years, actually since Madeleine’s previous husband died suddenly, but now – we write 2021 – the charity is expected to generate more income from activities of and with Heerlijkheid De Levensboom, the aromatic botanical garden that Madeleine and Kees Kerkhof (her current husband) with so much love and passion.

Vandaag de dag houdt het Levensboom Fonds zich nog steeds bezig met het ondersteunen van zorgvragers binnen de palliatieve en terminale zorg. Daarvoor stelt de stichting kennis, kunde en fondsen beschikbaar. Ook ondersteunen we aanvragen voor producten en diensten binnen de complementaire zorg en doen we regelmatig schenkingen. Uiteraard gaat het bestuur hier uit van de vraag van de zorgvrager(s) en hoe hun welbevinden het beste gediend kan worden.

Today, De Levensboom Foundation is as ever focusing on support of patients within palliative and terminal care. The foundation offers knowledge, expertise and funds for this purpose. We also support requests for products and services within complementary care and we regularly make donations. Naturally, the board reviews the requests of the care recipient(s) and how their wellbeing can best be served.

Oprichter Madeleine Kerkhof-Wellhüner heeft het Levensboom Fonds opgericht om aan hulpvragen tegemoet te komen van mensen in de laatste levensfase en hun naasten. Bevorderen van de kwaliteit van leven kan op veel manieren. Patiënten in de palliatieve fase en hun naasten hebben vaak behoefte aan extra zorg, zo nodig aanvullend op de al geboden standaard zorg. Deze behoeften kunnen uiteenlopen van een individuele massage of een paar dagen er tussenuit voor een patiënt tot de aanschaf van een bladderscan voor een hospice, muziekinstrumenten of een massagetafel. Daaraan proberen wij als kleine stichting zoveel mogelijk tegemoet te komen en werken waar nodig samen met andere stichtingen, zoals de Stichting Doe Een Wens e.d. Hulpvragen kunnen door iedereen worden ingediend die deze aanvraagt t.b.v. iemand met een levensverwachting van ca. 6 maanden – bij uitzondering langer.

Founder Madeleine Kerkhof-Wellhüner has set up De Levensboom Foundation to meet the needs of people in the final stages of life and their loved ones. Improving the quality of life can be done in many ways. Patients in the palliative phase and their loved ones often require extra care, in addition to the standard care already offered. These needs can range from an individual massage or a few days away for a patient, to purchasing a bladder scan for a hospice, musical instruments or a massage table. As a small foundation, we try to accommodate as much as possible and where necessary work together with other foundations, such as the Make A Wish Foundation, etc. Help requests can be submitted by anyone who applies for them for someone with a life expectancy of approximately 6 months – or (by exception) longer.

Haar taak bestaat uit het werven van fondsen, beoordelen van aanvragen en initiatieven en de organisatie van de gegeven steun.

Het Levensboom Fonds mag, behalve van de bevlogenheid van de bestuurster, gebruik maken van de inzet van minstens zo bevlogen echtgenoot van Madeleine, Kees Kerkhof en vrijwilligers Jan en Ramona, die vooral betrokken zijn bij het onderhoud van Heerlijkheid De Levensboom, de tuin die regelmatig open is voor het publiek en waarvan de opbrengsten in het fonds vloeien.

In addition to the enthusiasm of the chair, De Levensboom Foundation is happy to have equally enthusiastic volunteers, such as Madeleine’s husband Kees Kerkhof, Jan and Ramona on hand, who are mainly involved in the maintenance of Heerlijkheid De Levensboom, the garden which is open regularly to the public. Het Levensboom Fonds wordt financieel ondersteund door donaties.

Daarnaast zijn er de opbrengsten van open tuindagen en rondleidingen op afspraak in aromatische plantentuin Heerlijkheid De Levensboom, die op het terrein gelegen is. De kosten van het onderhoud komen voor rekening van het Levensboom Fonds en Kicozo, het Kennisinstituut Integratieve & Complementaire Zorg http://www.kicozo.info.

De stichting ontvangt gemiddeld 2000 euro op jaarbasis. Nagenoeg het gehele bedrag wordt besteed aan directe of indirecte zorg aan de zorgvrager in de palliatieve fase.

Een bedrag van ca. 250 euro per jaar wordt besteed aan werkzaamheden aan het gedeelte van deze en de Kicozo website dat aan het Levensboom Fonds behoort en verder aan kantoorartikelen zoals postzegels, papier en dergelijke.

De Levensboom Foundation is financially supported by donations.

In addition, there are proceeds from open garden days and guided tours by appointment in the aromatic plant garden Heerlijkheid De Levensboom, which is located on site. The foundation receives an average of 2000 euros on an annual basis. Virtually the entire amount is spent on direct or indirect care for the care recipient in the palliative phase.

An amount of approximately 250 euros per year is spent on work on the part of this website and that of Kicozo that belongs to the Levensboom Fund and on office supplies such as stamps, paper and the like.
